Getting Started

Everything you need to go from a new account to your first paid order.

1. Create your organization

Sign up from the registration page with your name, email, and business name. This automatically creates your organization (the top-level account that owns all your data), along with a default branch (your first physical location) and an org_owner user for you, with full access to every module.

Every new organization starts on a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. See Branches & Billing for what happens after your trial ends.

2. Add more branches (if you have them)

If you run more than one location, add each one from Branches with its name, address, and timezone. Every table, menu item availability, order, and report in SkillyPOS is scoped to a branch, so staff only ever see the data for the branch they're working at.

3. Invite your team

From Employees, invite staff by email and assign each of them a role: branch manager, POS manager, cashier, waiter, kitchen staff, inventory staff, or accountant. Each role comes with a preset set of permissions, so people only see and do what their job requires. See Employees & Roles for the full breakdown.

4. Build your menu

Go to Menu & Inventory and create your categories first (e.g. Starters, Main Course, Beverages), then add items under each one with a price, description, and photo. If you want to track stock for an item or its ingredients, enable stock tracking from the Inventory (Stock) tab. See Menu & Inventory.

5. Set up your floor

If you run dine-in service, lay out your tables under Tables with a table number, seating capacity, and floor number. This powers the floor map your waiters and cashiers use to assign orders. See Tables.

6. Open a session and take your first order

Before billing can start on a given business day, someone opens a sessionfrom the Sessions screen (or directly from the POS terminal). Once a session is open, go to POS Terminal, start a shift, add items to the cart, choose an order type (dine-in, takeaway, or delivery), and send the order through. See POS Terminal and Sessions.

7. Get paid

When the order is ready to be settled, open the bill from the POS terminal and choose a payment method: Cash, UPI, Card, or Wallet. For cash payments, SkillyPOS calculates change automatically from the amount tendered.
