POS Terminal

Where staff take orders, build the cart, and settle bills.

Starting a shift

A business day session must be open before the POS terminal can take orders (see Sessions). Signing in to the terminal starts your personal shift within that session, which is how sales get attributed to whoever was on the till.

Building an order

The menu grid on the left lists your categories and items. Tap an item to add it to the cart on the right. From the cart you can adjust quantities, add per-item notes for the kitchen (e.g. “no onions”), and remove items.

Every order has a type, chosen before or during checkout:

  • Dine-in: assign the order to a table from the floor map.
  • Takeaway: no table required.
  • Delivery: for orders going out to a customer address.

Sending the order

Once the cart looks right, send the order through. It immediately appears on the Kitchen Display for preparation and shows up in Orders with a status of New.

Billing and payment

When the order is ready to be settled, open the bill from the cart. SkillyPOS supports:

  • Cash: enter the amount tendered and SkillyPOS calculates change automatically, with quick round-number suggestions.
  • UPI: with an optional reference number for reconciliation.
  • Card: with an optional reference number.
  • Wallet: for wallet-based payments.

Tax and any discount are calculated automatically on the bill before you take payment. Once paid, the order moves to Paid and a receipt can be printed.

Working offline

If the branch loses internet connectivity, the POS terminal keeps working. Menu browsing, building orders, and cash payments continue locally and sync automatically once you're back online. Card and UPI payments, and anything that needs real-time confirmation, require a connection.
